ResQTracker FAQsDo I have to register? No, you don't. But as incentive to register, you'll get some extra-cool features "unlocked" such as the reports, medical conditions/pet health, and follow-up logs. You'll also be eligible for the free upgrade to version 2.5. Only registered users can upgrade to version 2.5. Does registering mean I'm going to get a lot of junk mail? No. I will email you about software updates and items I have to offer that may be of use to you, but I will never release your contact information to anyone else. Because I'm donating many copies of the software, the registrations act as "receipts" of my donations for the IRS when I file my taxes. If you don't register, I don't get to take the deduction. :o) Our group is non-profit, but we don't have 501c3 classification. Can I still get a copy donated? If you've applied for tax-exempt status or are planning to do so, indicate that you ARE 501c3 because in most cases the donations to those groups are tax-deductible retroactively. If you do not have your 501c3 application in progress, I will charge $30 for the new version. (The upgrade to 2.5 will be free to all registered users.) You can fax the first three pages of your application to me as proof that you are filing. I just installed version 2.5 but it wants me to reregister. Why do I have to do this? When you first upgrade, you will be guided through the initialization process again in order to give you the ability to specify options for the new features. Once you're done, all the buttons should become enabled and all the features available. If they're not, there are two possible explanations: 1. You moved rather than copied the files specified in the "back-up" instructions to a different folder on your hard drive. To copy them, select the folders and files from your back-up folder, right click and choose Copy from the pop-up menu. Put them back in your resqtracker folder. If the RQT.ini file is not present when you started ResQTracker, a new one is created as though you were installing from scratch. This means you will have the option of changing your System ID when you first run ResQTracker. If you choose a new System ID, all the data you previously entered will be READ ONLY! I recommend that you DO NOT DO THIS. If you cannot restore your previous RQT.ini file, write to karen @ rottlover.com for instructions on how to fix this. 2. You installed the upgrade to a different folder than the original location. The upgrade MUST be installed in the same folder. Re-run the installation and be sure to specify the original drive and folder where ResQTracker 2.0 was installed. I got a new computer and I need to move ResQTracker from the old computer to the new one. Will I have to reregister? If you can copy the RQT.ini file from the c:\program files\ResQTracker directory (or where ever you installed the program) on the old computer to the new computer, you won't have to reregister. If your computer crashed and you do not have access to that file, you will need to reregister to get a new unlock code. (You'll need to use the same system ID on the new computer that you used on the old computer.) To copy all your data, just copy the entire resqtracker\data folder from the old computer to the new after you reinstall ResQTracker on the new computer. How do I share information between members of my rescue group? The data import/export feature is available in version 2.5. When will the next version be available? Version 2.5 is available now to registered users and includes the import/export feature. I am planning features to add to version 3.0, so if you have ideas for features you'd like to have, use this form to log an enhancement request! I entered a foster home and adopter but I could not select them on the Pet screen. Why not? When you enter foster homes and adopters, their application status is automatically set to Pending. They cannot receive an animal until their application is Approved. To set an adopter or foster home to Approved, open the Foster or Adopter Screen. Click the Edit button for the desired record and change the Status field on the Application page to Approved. |
